Morning:
We will set off to visit Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), stepping into the academic institution renowned as “one of the most beautiful university campuses in Southeast Asia.” During the visit, we will tour the Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI) and explore its marine conservation aquarium and fisheries research facilities.
Subject to participant numbers and age requirements, students will take part in an immersive Coral Reef Ecology course, delivered bilingually by an authoritative professor from Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
Afternoon:
After the afternoon session, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for the Marine Ecological Restoration Practice Program issued by the Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
On the way to Kudat, we will venture into the core protected area of the coastal mangrove wetlands, enjoy a boat cruise to witness the spectacular “Canopy Galaxy” fireflies among the mangroves, track proboscis monkey populations, and learn about the biodiversity of the mangrove ecosystem.
After dinner, return to the hotel for rest and relaxation.

Full Day:
Today we will travel by boat to Malaysia’s largest marine protected area — Tun Mustapha Marine Park. This park is home to Sabah’s finest coral reef ecosystems and serves as a model site for ecological restoration.
Within the coral conservation zone, and under the guidance of park rangers, participants will learn about coral reef ecosystems, receive snorkeling instruction, and explore the vibrant underwater world of colorful coral reefs.
Guided jointly by experts from WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and Sabah Parks, we will carry out the “Underwater Tree Planting” Coral Nursery Restoration Program and take part in an international volunteer initiative for coral reef regeneration.
Participants may bring underwater photography equipment to conduct coral species surveys. Upon completion of the research activities, students will be awarded a Certificate of Participation issued by Sabah Parks.
